Jeffery Hess, `94, Edits Book Helping Military Families

Jeffery Hess, Professional Writing `94, is now the editor of "Home of the Brave: Stories in Uniform," an anthology of military-related fiction soon to be released by Press 53 this coming Memorial Day, May 23.

The anthology contains 24 stories by both renowned and emerging writers and a portion of the proceeds are being donated to USA Cares, a charity that provides financial aid to post 9/11 military families.

Hess served six years in the U.S. Navy during the Cold War. He has also worked with veterans in sharing his knowledge of the writing process as a way to give them and their families some of the same joy and clarity it has given him. His goal with this anthology is to have the stories honor those who have served in uniform.

Hess has held many writing positions including some at a major daily newspaper, a Fortune 500 company, and a university-based research center. Is writing has also appeared in various corporate websites and publications. He now lives in Tampa where he's completing a novel and leads a creative writing workshop for military veterans.

Hess will be attending a Memorial Day Concert and other events at the Boonedock's in Vine Grove, Kentucky, the day the book is released.
