After More Than 40 Years, Art Student's Photos Go on Exhibit
From 1972 until he graduated in '73, USF art student Bill Yates documented life at the Sweetheart Roller Skating rink in downtown Tampa. His photos of the teens and children who spent weekends at the rink sat in a box for decades. On Oct. 3, they'll go on exhibit at New Orleans' Ogden Museum of Southern Art. See the photos.
Criminology Alum a Finalist for $1 Million Prize
USF criminology alumnus Eric Biel, `13, was one of six Tampa college students whose team made it to Saturday's finals for the prestigious Clinton Global Initiative Hult Prize. Biel, now in USF's MBA program, is COO of the Tembo Education Group, which developed a cell phone education program to reach impoverished preschoolers in Nigeria. Tembo was the only team from the United States to make the finals. Read more.
